House Tours | A European Home in New Orleans
A home fit for a king and queen! This New Orleans home is by far a snapshot of history and grace with classical European design and the comforts of the American South. Tara Shaw, a master antique collector, furniture maker, and interior designer is revealing her luxurious and very European home settled in her native Louisiana. I’m always in awe for neutral color palettes. One comment from Tara that really resonates with me, she says:
I can definitely relate! Life is busy and I need a sense of vacation when I get home. It doesn’t mean I’m afraid of color, but for my own personal spaces I enjoy layering neutrals and experimenting with mixed sources and styles to create an atmosphere of luxury and timelessness. Tara's done just that but with an exquisite charm using her keen eye to hunt down antiques and patinas ranging from the sixteenth to the eighteenth centuries. There’s no denying she’s well traveled and knows exactly where all the best flea markets and shops are across Sweden, France, and Italy. The exterior facade may be austere but the Old World elegance inside is comfortable and light and reflects her taste for infusing interiors with a sense of history. Scroll through the spaces she’s graced her expert design style and see that you too don’t become a junky for old things. What do you think of her home?
